Of all the planet\'s renewable resources, water has a unique place. Water is one of the five basic elements (Earth, Water, Air, Atmosphere and Fire) from which creation emanates. Water, a renewable resource is undoubtedly one of the most vital requirements for all the living beings. Many a time this five-letter word (Water) has become a hot topic for discussion. India\'s water crisis is predominantly a manmade problem. India\'s climate is not particularly dry, nor is it lacking in rivers and groundwater. Extremely poor management, unclear laws, government corruption, and industrial and human waste have caused this water supply crunch and rendered what water is available practically useless due to the huge quantity of pollution. In managing water resources, the Indian government must balance competing demands between urban and rural, rich and poor, the economy and the environment. However, because people have triggered this crisis, by changing their actions they have the power to prevent water scarcity from devastating India\'s population, agriculture, and economy. The present book contains 15 different research articles in which it is our endeavor to cover the major aspect of present status and future requirement of Water Resources in India. It is hoped that the book will be highly useful for students, scholars, professors, planners and policy makers.
