Born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Vinod Mehta moved to India with his family when he was three years old. He was born and raised in Lucknow and currently resides in Delhi. He became the editor-in-chief of the men’s magazine, Debonair, in 1974, and has founded and edited numerous publications since then. He was the founding editor of The Sunday Observer, India’s first Sunday paper, Bombay Daily, The Independent, and the Delhi edition of The Pioneer. He has also worked as an editor at The Indian Post. He was the editor-in-chief of Outlook India till February 2012 and has now taken over as its advisor. He has authored The Sanjay Story and Meena Kumari, which are the biographies of the politician, Sanjay Gandhi and the actress, Meena Kumari. Among his other major works are Bombay: A Private View, Mr. Editor, How Close Are You To The PM?, Lucknow Boy: A Memoir, Weekend Break from Bangalore, and 100 Holidays In The Hills.
