Summary of the book This book, with a catchy title, has those life’s little puzzles all around us explained in a question-and-answer format. The subjects are indexed according to groups so that the readers could surf through different topics easily. The book also has a glossary for the inevitable scientific terms for a better comprehension.  This compendium of many questions seeking a scientific take for the answers include queries like why does a whip make a loud cracking noise or would jumping in the last instant in a falling elevator save a person. The answers make the readers open up to the simple yet marveling world of Science. About Robert L. Wolke Robert is an American born Chemist. He is the professor for Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh and is known for his aptitude to explain Science in an enjoyable and interesting way. His other book What Einstein Told His Cook: Kitchen Science Explained was nominated by both the James Beard Foundation and the IACP as the best reference book of the year. The American Chemical Society has selected Dr Wolke for the 2005 Grady-Stack Award, for interpreting chemistry to the public.
