About Gary Taubes Gary Taubes is an American author. Born in Rochester, he completed his BS in Applied Physics from Harvard University and MS in Aerospace Engineering at Stanford University. He joined Discover magazine as a staff reporter in 1982 and since then has been writing numerous articles for the magazine. Some of the books authored by him include Nobel Dreams, Bad Science: The Short Life and Weird Times of Cold Fusion, and Good Calories, Bad Calories. He was honored with the Science in Society Journalism Award of the National Association of Science Writers three times and was awarded an MIT Knight Science Journalism Fellowship for 1996-97.
