Wireless Communication is a book that helps the readers acquire a deeper understanding of the various aspects related to wireless communication. Summary Of The Book Over the past decade, wireless communication has grown rapidly into an important and fast moving industry. This makes it very important for students to have a proper understanding of the basics of wireless communication and its various aspects. By dealing with various topics like directional channel modelling, MIMO systems, multi-user detection, and 3G standards, the book is highly detailed and comprehensive in all aspects. The book has been divided into five specific parts. The first part is called Introduction, which is further subdivided into application and requirements of wireless services, technical challenges of wireless communication and noise and interference limited systems. The second part of the book is called Wireless Propagation Channels. The second part is further divided into propagation mechanisms, wideband and directional channel characterisation, channel sounding, statistical description of the wireless channel, antennas and channel models. Transceivers and Signal Processing forms the third part of the book. The subdivisions of the third part are modulation formats, diversity, channel coding, equalizers, speech coding and the structure of wireless communication links. The fourth part is titled Multiple Access and Advanced Transceiver Schemes. It is further divided into multi-antenna systems, multiple accesses and the cellular principle, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and spread spectrum systems. The fifth and final part of the book is called Standardized Wireless System, which is further divided into Wireless Local Area Networks, WCDMA/UMTS, Exercises, IS-95 and CDMA 2000 and Global System for Mobile Communications. Furthermore, the book also has a list of abbreviations and symbols to help the readers acquaint themselves better with the subject of wireless communication. Wireless Communication is a comprehensive and all encompassing book about one of the fastest growing fields of communication. This book helps readers gain a deeper understanding about wireless communication in an engaging manner. About Andreas F. Molisch Andreas F. Molisch is a renowned researcher and educator. Some of his current areas of research include measurement and modelling of mobile radio channels, MIMO systems, UWB, wireless healthcare and novel cellular architecture. Other books by him are Wideband Wireless Digital Communications and Radiation Trapping in Atomic Vapours. A highly renowned academician, Andreas holds a degree from Technical University Vienna. He has a strong foundation in the field of communication after having worked at TU Vienna, Wireless Systems Research Department at AT&T (Bell) Laboratories Research, and Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs. He has also been awarded with the Eric Sumner Award of the IEEE and the Donald Fink Award of the IEEE. Andreas is also a prominent member of the Fellow of the IEEE and the IET. He is also a distinguished lecturer of IEEE. From 2011, he has also been the co-director of the Communications Sciences Institute (CSI).
