In our country, woman is considered productive, compensative, bestowed of property as well as she is considered belligerent, malicious and destructive. This double character manifests in the goddesses as well. There are dangerous, aggressive male eminent goddesses like Durga and Kali whereas, goddesses like Lakshmi and Saraswati who are benevolent are equally important. Like other sections in society, in our country, numerous lawe are available for the protection and development of women. Some special enactments have also been made namely Hindu Marriage Act, 1955; Family Courts Act, 1984; Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; Sexual Harrassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and so on.
