This book, Women's Movement in India provides an introduction to issues related to women's movement with focus on Indian women and its complete mapping. A critical overview of role of women in contemporary India is also given. This book attempts firstly towards understanding the relevance of sexism and sexual rights and secondly towards understanding major issues related to feminism, eco-feminism, globalisation and women's movements. An overview of history of women's movement in India is given. This book also attempts towards understanding the relationship between women's movements and law. Focus also lies on the modern agenda of women movements and major future challenges. About the Author:- B. Ramaswamy is a well known social scientist. He obtained his graduate and master's degrees from Loyola College and Delhi School of Economics respectively. He completed his doctorate in 'sociology' from the Singhania University, India, and was awarded honorary doctorate by the Cosmopolitan University, USA. He has specialised in various areas such as sociology, law, social work, leadership, creative writing, human rights, environment, disaster management, human resources, mass communication, cyber laws, intellectual property rights etc. He is also visiting fellow, advisor and member in several prestigious institutions. He has published many articles both in national and international magazines of repute and leading newspapers. He holds important positions in government, viz member, maintenance (Tribunal-maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Act 2007), Member (Child Welfare Committee, Government of NCT, Delhi-A bench of Magistrates constituted under section 29 of Juvenile Justice), Deputy Chief Warden (Civil Defence Crops, Delhi) and as director in many institutions and private bodies. He is the founder director and Professor of the Ramaswamy IAS Academy popularly known as HAS.
