WORDS THAT I BREATHE OUT is an anthology of poems by some of the underrated poets around India. This book reveals a whole new generation of differently talented poets. It is without doubt that this group can be called “unified sensibilities,” and in such a case I wouldn’t just say a group of “poetry” because these are a unique set of very individual composers who haven’t been blinded by fealties or in fact hardened by the mere traditional ways. There is unusually a common voice or approach that hangs around throughout the entire book. The poems are often set at a middle distance, in a certain voice which is aware that it is speaking, brooding, mystifying, but alert as well to impulses that are unspoken or appalling.
