Wuthering Heights is a classic novel of romance and a family’s strife, and Emily Bronte’s only published work. Summary of the Book Heathcliff is adopted by a wealthy man, who takes him to his home at Wuthering Heights and over the years, he falls in love with the man’s daughter, the beautiful Catherine Earnshaw. He never reveals his feelings, and wonders if Catherine has no such feelings for him. He leaves the house and journeys to seek his own fortune. He returns years later, a wealthy man. Now he has only one objective in mind, to exact revenge for what he considers to be his early misfortunes. Catherine is married to an Edgar Linton. Edgar’s young sister becomes besotted with Heathcliff, who decides to use her feelings to ruin Edgar and Catherine’s lives. His fiery indignation and jealously imbue this tale with a unique flame, brought alive by the Bronte Sister’s words. About Emily Brontë Emily Jane Brontë was an English novelist and poet. This is her only novel. Emily was the sibling of Charlotte and Anne Brontë, and together they are known in literary cycles as the Brontë Sisters.
