Summary of the Book The 51-year-old single woman, Elizabeth, adopts a ten-year-old girl called Lara. She is extremely happy about realising her long-time dream. But when she discovers that the child was abused and emotionally damaged, she is in utter shock. By the age of twelve, Lara goes out of control, starts hanging around with drug dealers in Oxford, often vanishing for days together. Liz saves her from disasters repeatedly. But she has no idea that Lara was being trafficking by a sex ring. Drawing from a real-life story, this book, written in an autobiographical style, poignantly depicts how a mother never gave up on her daughter and how that has now made them have a close and loving relationship. About Elizabeth McDonnell Elizabeth McDonnell has worked in the charity sector for several years. This is her debut book. She currently lives with Lara and her two grandchildren.
