A Death in My Family is the first of the My Struggle series by Karl Ove Knausgaard. The story revolves around the author's life and gives readers an account of his teenage years. Summary of the Book The pages in this book take readers through Knausgaard's life as a child and teenager. He reveals to us his obsession with rock music and his relationship with his parents. His mother was a loving woman, but was as good as invisible for the most part, and his father was always distant. His father's death shook him and brought about grief and confusion. During his years as a father, Knausgaard struggled to play the role of a father and also wanted to produce great literature. The book is written in all honesty and is a story that will move readers. About Karl Ove Knausgaard Karl Ove Knausgaard is a Norwegian author who has written six autobiographical novels. The novels have been titled My Struggle. He wrote his first novel, Out of the World, in 1998. Knausgaard won the Norwegian Critics Prize for Literature for this book and it was the first time a debutant had won the award.
