Summary of the Book James Bowden, a street musician, who is struggling to make his ends meet finds an injured ginger cat curled up in the hallway of his apartment building. James was barely making enough money to feed himself and adopting a pet was the last thing on his mind. Yet, he somehow could not resist extending a helping hand to this strikingly intelligent animal and christened it Bob right away! He patiently nursed the cat back to health and sent it away hoping to never see it again. But the cat clearly had other plans. Following his parents’ divorce, he moved to Australia with his mother and stepfather. In 1997, he returned to the UK and lived with his half-sister, but this did not work out well for him.
