With the recitation of these stories, I would like that you understand the different stages, identify them in your life situation and select the correct one that will help to improve your communication with other people. Remember, most of the time to communicate effectively with one another, the best stage is the adult. I use my life as an example of how God changed my path and opened my mind to receive and apply this concept. My wife has a strong Parent and this lead to a multitude of arguments. Our marriage was not as good and communicative as it is now. The arguments were creating a communication barrier between us. Even though we love each other, we spent more time arguing than showing affection. Our children were feeling this tension, it was hell. One day, by the grace of God, I remember the concept that I had learned a long time ago. I started to apply this concept in my daily life. All future discussions we had that headed towards an argument were curtailed by using this tool. We tried to stay in our adult and work through the communication process. I spent a lot of time explaining to my wife how to communicate in the Adult stage. If our arguments were really bad, trying to get her to apply the concepts wasn't easy. Every time I pointed out the Child, I got cursed; she took it as an insult. Time went by until finally my wife got the concept. When an argument started and I was not able to communicate on the adult stage, I excused myself and asked to resume the conversation later. When we did start our conversation again my goal was to hook her Adult with the tool. After she got the hang of the concept, I passed it on to my children and every person I believed needed it. My desire is that with my stories, I can pass the concept on to you and you are able to understand the tool and apply in your daily life.
