Smelting Reduction Processes About the Author Prof. Sujay Kumar Dutta did his graduation in Metallurgical Engineering from Bengal Engineering College, Sibpur (Under Calcutta University) in 1975. He did M.E. in Metallurgical Engineering from M.S. University of Baroda in the year 1980 and was awarded the degree of Doctorate of Philosophy in Metallurgical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1992. He received Award of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Gold Medal (1987) by Institution of Engineers (India), Calcutta for best paper entitled: Utilization of Sponge Iron in Indian Iron and Steel Industries. He was awarded Essar Gold Medal —2006 Award by The Indian Institute of Metals, Kolkata in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Metallurgical Industries in general and in the field of Secondary Steel Making in particular. Prof. Dutta is associated with Ferrous Extractive Metallurgy for last 30 years at M.S. University of Baroda. He has been engaged in research on Direct Reduction and Smelting Reduction for about three decades. He has published more than 80 technical papers in National/International journals and conference proceedings including 8 in International journals. Prof. Rameshwar Sah did his graduation in Metallurgical Engineering from Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (now, NIT Jamshedpur) in 1992 and secured second rank in RIT and Ranchi University, Ranchi. He did M.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering from 1.I.T. Kharagpur and was awarded the degree of Doctorate of Philosophy in Metallurgical Engineering from M.S. University of Baroda, Vadodara in 2009. He has been to academic profession for 12 years and 6 years with industry. He has worked for 81/2 years with Nirma University of Science and Technology, Ahmedabad. During his teaching career, he taught several subjects of Metallurgical Engineering but more of Iron and Steel Making. Currently, he is working as Assistant General Manager, R&D and Scientific Services Department, JSW Steel Ltd., Toranagallu, Bellary, Karnataka since January 2011. He has published so far 29 technical papers in National/International journals and conference proceedings including 4 in International journals.
