About The book -: His work contains an account of the war and observations on the geography, history, people, and languages of the country. As a consequence of the war, Bhutan was forced to Cede Duārs to British India. Duārs now constitutes a portion of the states of Assam and West Bengal in India. About The Author -: David Field Rennie, (1868) who participated in the conflict as a military surgeon, wrote this book on his four-month voyage back to England. Bhutan, which is located at the eastern end of the HimalayanMountain range, was at that time one of the world’s most isolated countries. David Field Rennie was a medical officer who had direct experience of the brief hostilities between colonial India and Bhutan in the late eighteen hundred. His lively accounts bring the history of this period to life. Some of his books are The British Arms in North China and Japan: Peking 1860; Kagosima 1862, Bhotan and the Story of the Door War and Peking and the Pekingese During the First Year of the British Embassy at Peking.
