The present book titled Bihar: Untold Growth Story is, in a sense, a treaties on socio-economy of Bihar highlighting the states glorious, remote and immediate past with the present terrible economic position indicating things to come in the state suggesting several measures towards realizing the goal of economic and social accomplishment. The book has taken care of the latest issues tormenting the state authorities and the economist pertaining to rural and urban poverty, migration of Bihari labour force, corruption and criminalisation proving to be a stumbling block in development as also the debated aspect of improving the states financial position by way of special package or special status. The book though highlights achievements of the state, brings out the myths of these, laying down that the development process is characterized by truths and half truth very boldly observing and finally suggesting that accomplishment is not the same thing as achievements, nor is the fact that what is apparent is real. About the Author : Indra Sen Kumar, MA in both Economics and Political Science, is a retired senior officer of the Indian Economic Service (IES) of the Government of India, besides being an Economist and an Administrator, is a man of pen and letters. After serving a couple of years as Assistant Professor of Economics, he made a successful transition from education to bureaucracy after joining the IES. He received training in Development Economics and Financial Management at different institutes in India and abroad including the reputed UK based Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at Sussex. He served the Government of Afghanistan as an Expert in Planning as also he travelled abroad including UK, France and other European countries. Authorship potential was inborn in him and he wrote a number of books both in English and Hindi three of which are The Kayasthas: Myths and Realities, YetAlive, a Memoir and an auto biography in Hindi titled Laut Chale (Time to Retreat). He has had been writing very often articles on social and economic issues.
