After serving a couple of years as Assistant Professor of Economics, he made a successful transition from education to bureaucracy after joining the IES. He received training in Development Economics and Financial Management at different institutes in India and abroad including the reputed UK based Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at Sussex. He served the Government of Afghanistan as an Expert in Planning as also he travelled abroad including UK, France and other European countries. Authorship potential was inborn in him and he wrote a number of books both in English and Hindi three of which are The Kayasthas: Myths and Realities, YetAlive, a Memoir and an auto biography in Hindi titled Laut Chale (Time to Retreat). He has had been writing very often articles on social and economic issues.
