Saunf Moti, also known as Badi, Badishep, Bari Saunf, Badi, Sonp, or Sont in Hindi, is a popular spice derived from the fennel plant. Its seeds, often referred to as Bitter Fennel, Common Fennel, Sweet Fennel, or Wild Fennel in English, are aromatic and have a slightly sweet, licorice-like flavor. In Sanskrit, it is called Mishreya or Madhurika. This spice is widely used in culinary preparations and traditional medicine. It is known as Menthya in Kannada, Badishep or Shoap in Marathi, Perun Siragum, Shombu, Sohikire in Tamil, and Peddajilakurra or Sopu in Telugu.
