She received her Ph.D. in Stylistics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, completed her MA in English in Kanpur University and her BA in English, Psychology and History from Lucknow University. She is an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and is also a Visiting Faculty at Chuo University and Doshisha University, Japan. She is the founding Chairperson of Gender Resource Centre, IIMA.
