Ambada/Gongura is popular in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In Maharashtra markets, it is called Ambaadi. It is a summer crop and the hotter the place the more sour the leaf gets. Andhra Pradesh produces the best quality Gongura. Gongura is a leafy plant , which has many culinary uses, the most popular is the pickled version. Gongura comes in two varieties, green stemmed leaf and red. Gongura is the form of the roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa) grown for its edible leaves in India and in other countries like Fiji. roselle is called gongura and is extensively used. The leaves are steamed with lentils and cooked with dal. They tend to grow best when they are planted in average, moist and well-drained soil, will tolerate sandy soil, loamy soil, clay soil and moist soil. Now open the seed packet on a white sheet of paper as while opening the seeds might fall, which are not visible to naked eyes. After preparing the soil, insert the seeds into the prepared Mixture of soil along with coco peat to half (0.5) inch of depth. While watering, care needs to be taken to sprinkling water through a sprinkler or manually using your hands, do not use pipe or a mug to water for the first week, as the force of water might damage the seed germination process. Once the seeds grow in to seedlings, say around 3 inches, then you may transplant the seedlings to various pots or desired areas. The sapling needs to be checked at regular intervals to ensure it is not infected by any weed/pest or insect and if you find any such thing on the leaves or in soil then you may spray Organic Pesticides like Neem Oil, Neem Powder on it. The nursery bed has to be prepared finely by adding farm yard manure & sand. grooves of 0.5 cm deep have to be made and sow the seed 0.5 cm apart and cover it with thin layer of soil. Spraying the water timely the seedlings will be ready for transplanting. Add urea to the soil for removal of insects and make soil clean and fresh for Home garden and also mix soil with coco peat and Vermi compost for better result in growing plant. DO's: Put seeds 0.5 inch depth inside the soil and add water or spray slowly and timely such that seeds does not come out the soil. Can Be Use All Season, by using Vermi Composit And Coco peat then Results are Good. expect the result of the germination after 7 days to 10 days from the planting. Regularly watering should happen twice in day. Dont's: Seeds should not to keep more than 1 inch inside the soil.if so there may chance of zero germination. Happy Gardening..!!
