This compendium of twenty-five papers, presented at a national seminar, held at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, attempts to analyze the emerging patterns of contractual employment in Indian labour market. Giving a conceptual overview of contractual employment, the contributors discuss at length the problems and consequences of contractual labour relating to wages, industrial relations and other aspects. They also deal with the existing legal safety measures as well as required socio-economic changes for contractual labour.
