Cracking The CSAT (Paper 2) is a comprehensive guidebook that helps students perform well in the second paper of the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Summary Of The Book Cracking The CSAT (Paper 2) is a book that aims to help students confidently tackle Paper 2 of the CSAT. The CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test is a preliminary examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission of India (UPSC) as part of the Civil Services Examination (CSE). The CSE is used to recruit candidates for various Civil Services, for them to serve the Government of India. The preliminary examination consists of two papers. The first paper tests the candidates’ general knowledge in areas such as current affairs, Indian history, basic science, and Indian geography. The second paper tests the candidates’ aptitude in various areas like communication, analytical ability, and logical reasoning. This book focuses on the second paper only. The book is divided into nine sections. It begins with an introduction to the CSAT format. The first section covers basic comprehension. The second section covers basic numeracy. It includes topics like numbers, fractions, surds, ratio and proportion, profit and loss, geometry, elementary algebra, sequences and series, and Venn diagrams and statistics. The third section focuses on the general mental ability of the candidate. It contains topics like analogy, blood relations, puzzle tests, truth verification, and visual reasoning. The next section presents data interpretation, graphs, and data sufficiency. The fifth section focuses entirely on decision making and problem solving. It explores the concepts, theories, key attributes, effects, and approaches involved in decision making. It also covers the concept of emotional intelligence. The sixth section covers topics to test a candidate’s interpersonal skills. It includes various concepts like communication skills, behavioral psychology, communication styles, stress management, effective listening, communication dos and don’ts, leadership styles and conflict management. The seventh section contains topics related to logical reasoning and analytical ability. Some of the topics included are syllogisms, statements, arguments, assumptions, cause and effect, and assertions. The last couple of sections of the book present English language comprehension and 10 mock tests respectively. The mock tests are accompanied by detailed solutions to the questions. Every chapter of the book contains relevant examples to help the students gain a better understanding of the subject at hand. Each chapter ends with multiple choice questions for practice.
