Critically Annotated Poetry is the third generation of its kind, its predecessors being Critical Studies from Elizabethan to Romantic Poetry (Woven Words, 2017), which was the expanded work from the earlier work Critical Studies in Poetry: From Elizabethan to Romantic Age (Notion Press, 2016). This book is one of a series of books, offering critically annotated poems on various periods of English literature. The book has been broken down to keep the poems restricted. The present structural division of the syllabus in semesters makes it burdensome for students to carry an anthology which ranges from Elizabethan to Romantic Poetry, or Victorian and Modern. For the ease of students, I have decided to take out several editions, each being focused on specific periods, as per the semesters outlined by UGC for undergraduate students of India. This book deals with select Sonnets of the Elizabethan Age and explores Metaphysical Poetry.
