As Police officer Sophia Kuenstler slips through the backstreets of Berlin looking for sex, Kathe, her old GDR friend, is murdered in the park near Sophia's apartment. Outside Sophia's home a frightened girl waits. Sophia is thrown back into a shocking past when she returns to her East German home town of Breden to investigate Kathe's murder. She must confront the horrors she left behind as a teenager in a secret and bloody flight west, orchestrated by her enigmatic father Petrus.
