Dashti Upanyas is a collection of works from Bengali writer Sanjib Chattopadhyay. Summary of the Book Known for his portrayal of old aged men as protagonists, Sanjib Chattopadhyay tells stories which hit close to the Bengali heart. He incorporates short satirical sentences into his stories which touch upon all walks of life. He also works in a strongly spiritual and philosophical edge into his stories, giving readers a medley of emotions, tension, values, problems and tests their curiosity completely. About Sanjib Chattopadhyay Sanjib Chattopadhyay is a Bengali novelist and short story writer. He is best known for Swetpatharer tebil (The Ivory Table), Lotakambal (The Blanket and Quilt) and Shakha Prasakha (Branches). A graduate of the Scottish Church College where he studied chemistry, Chattopadhyay's stories involve old men as protagonists and mix tension, dilemma, curiosity, pity, humor, and satire. Chattopadhyay was awarded the Ananda Puraskar in 1981 for his contributions towards Bengali literature.
