The novel is, among other things, about the role that the family plays in our lives.The hero in the novel makes a quest to find a safe harbour in the arms of love--a universal need. His love affair has both comic as also an intellectual insights.Afterword of the book entitled ‘ Fiction and Autobiography’ has a great significance in comprehending the meaning of the text. Interestingly, the novel has a great Indian connection. This is evident from the cover picture of the book which depicts Saraswati, the goddess of love and knowledge.
