The Tangsa Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh inhabited in eastern most part of India had been least known to the outside because of their difficult terrain and submissive nature. In spite, of their rich cultural heritage and traditional ethos, they are not exposé to outside world. It is due to the fact that no in-depth research work has been undertaken to explore their traditional and cultural ethos. However, the present monographic study is an attempt to understand the nature of socio-political transition with the impact of modern administrative system. Thus, this book explores the history and evolution of RUUNG (Traditional Village Council), its structure and functions. Besides, various aspects of the life of Tangsas have been systematically analyzed so as to present socio holistic and total picture of this little known tribe. Not only their traditional pattern of living had been vividly exposed, but also the steady process of their transition from their primitive life to the present stage on the basis of an extensive field work. This book, "Dynamics of tribal polity in North-east India", may prove equally beneficial to the researchers, administrators, planers as well as general readers interested in the preservation and promotion of the culture and faster development of the area in general and tribal life in particular.
