The book “Economy and Environment: Current Issues and Concerns” is pertinent to acknowledge the fact that any development in an economy without environmental considerations can cause serious environmental damage in turn impairing the quality of life of present and future generations. The natural environment plays an important role in supporting economic activity. The concept of sustainable development attempts to strike a balance between the demands of the economic development and the need for protection of the environment. Sustainable development, therefore, attempts to accelerate development in an environmentally responsible manner keeping in mind the intergenerational equity requirements which will secure long-term economic growth thereby making the economy resilient to future risks.
