He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Commerce from St. John's College, Agra, and Master's and Doctoral Degrees from the University of Allahabad. During his teaching career of well-over 38 years he taught Transport Economics to M.A. Classes, and Public Finance, statistics, Research Methodology and Organisational Behaviour to Commerce and Management students at Post Graduate level. He is Fulbright alumnus and a Smith Mundt Fellow of the State Department, USA. He was named as the National Lecturer by the University Grants Commission, India. He also served as Vice-Chancellor, Kanpur University. He was awarded the Saraswat Samman by the U.P. Government for his life-long contribution to the cause of Education. He has been a member of several recruitment panels, government committees and governing councils of educational institutions in India. In connection with these academic and educational administration assignments he has travelled extensively in India and abroad.
