The intra-personal and the interpersonal socio-emotional competencies are to be nurtured. This requires understanding of the concept of emotional intelligence, awareness of efforts made to measure emotional intelligence and training for using various strategies for fostering emotional intelligence. Knowledge of the researches conducted in the area of determinants of emotional intelligence can help in the development of insights for conducting useful researches. The present book has been written with the sole aim to help teachers and guidance workers to understand the nature of emotional intelligence and know about some tools for measuring emotional intelligence among students, teachers and B.Ed. students and strategies for developing emotional intelligence. Researches conducted by the author to find out how family environment, classroom environment, stress and creativity influence the development of emotional intelligence among students have also been reported in the book.
