The history, various sub-fields and forms of public administration, government work, and public service—including the civil service and bureaucracy—are all covered in this publication. A summary of volunteerism and civil society; the role of citizens in fostering local government and public-social-private partnerships; the concept, principles, charts, paradigms, and theories of public administration; and the scope, nature, components, and functions of both public and personnel administration are all briefly discussed. Focus is also placed on the interactions between public administration, democracy, accountability, and public dealing; professional administration and new public management; grievance procedures; public maladministration and bureaucratic dysfunction; law and enforcement; good administration; and administrative law, procedures, and statutes. There is a description of ethics in public sector and public administration.
