His work "Cultural Persistence and Change" for which he was awarded Ph.D. degree by the University of Ranchi earned for him admiration at home and abroad. His another major work is "Harijan Today" jointly with late Professor Vidyarthi. It is a pioneering research work among the Harijans of Bihar. Prof. Mishra is a life member of several scientific, academic and social institutions in India and abroad.
