Factotum is one of Charles Bukowski’s best novel which follows the life of the aspiring writer Henry Chinaski. Summary of the Book Factotum follows the story of Henry Chinaski who is a loner, an outcast and a drunkard. His life has no meaning and he keeps drifting around America from one hopeless job to another and from one meaningful relationship to another. Henry is an aspiring writer, and the novel follows him across World War II-era America. The author has portrayed Henry’s downfall in a very uncompromising and unconventional way. Factotum represents low-life urbanity and alcoholism and provides an excellent introduction to the world of Charles Bukowski.
