Maxine Hong Kingston is an Asian American who has written extensively about the experiences of Chinese immigrants living in the United States. She has also significantly contributed to the feminist movement with works such as her memoir The Woman Warrior which discusses gender and ethnicity and how these concepts affect the lives of women. The present study critically examines Kingston’s fiction and evaluates her contribution to the Asian American diasporic experiences, like other immigrant writers Amy Tan, Bharati Mukherjee, Chitra Divakaruni and Jhumpa Lahiri.
