With increasing relevance and applicability of genetics to human affairs, it is within the realm of possibility that Molecular genetics willbecome the most important of all applied sciences. However, in recent years, techniques for manipulating prokaryotic as well as eukarotic DNA have witnessed a remarkable development,. This has allowed breakage of a DNA molecular at two desired places to isolate a specific DNA fragment and then insert it in another DNA molecule at a desisired position. The product, thus, obtained is called recombinant DNA and the technique often called genetic engineering. Application of biotechnology is ever expanding because the biotech activities has become highly vulnerable for commercialisation. Dr. Khan is the Director of Nawab Shah Alam Khan Centre for Post Graduate studies and Research, Anwarul Uloom College Campus, Mallepally, Hyderabad. Dr. Aditya Khanum obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Botany from the Osmania University, Hyderabad, Dr. Khanum has worked on the ecology of two lakes of Hyderabad with special reference to Planktonic and Mat forming algal communities.
