When consciously choosing to live a more sustainable lifestyle, one of the most fundamental ways to do so is to avoid using single-use plastics. Plastics are a non-biodegradable material that has had an adverse effect on our planet for years. According to studies, an estimate of eight million tonnes contributes to the pollution in our oceans annually with straws being a big part of this problem. Plastic straws, which were once widely used in restaurants and cafes are now being replaced with paper straws. While this is a change we are glad to see taking place, we think there is still more we can do; by switching to a reusable straw, we can further reduce the amount of waste we generate.
