Guar bean or cluster bean is an annual legume and source of guar gum. Young beans are harvested for vegetable use. The seeds from mature pods are harvested, dried and powdered to flour known as gur gum. Gur gum is used as thickening agent in commercial food preparations like ice cream etc. cluster beans are low in calories and very effective in lowering the blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
