Harriet the Spy is a classic novel written and illustrated by Louise Fitzhugh for children. It has been regarded as ‘a milestone in children’s literature’. Summary of the Book Eleven-year-old Harriet M. Welsch is an aspiring writer who hopes to become a spy. She lives in New York City’s Upper East Side. She is exuberant and intelligent by nature, and pens down everything she knows about everyone in her notebook. Harriet loses the notebook on a fateful day, and it ends up in the wrong hands. Before she discovers it, her friends read the always truthful, sometimes unpleasant things she had written about each of them!
