The name Ceilao here is used for the Island of Ceylon. It is a book written by a Portuguese captain and recounts his stay in the Island and gives the details of the war fought between them and the natives and Hollanders. The book is divided into 3 parts: 1) the description of Ceylon and its natives. 2) the details of the war fought in the 1620's and 3) the advantages that Ceylon held for the Portuguese. This book is the reprint of the 1947 edition. Translated from the Portuguese by P.E. Pieris.
