Implantology, a vital aspect of prosthodontics, has witnessed significant advancements with the integration of newmaterials aimed at enhancing biocompatibility, aesthetics, and mechanical performance. Among these, zirconia hasemerged as a promising alternative to conventional titanium implants, owing to its tooth-like color, excellent tissue response,and corrosion resistance. The evolution of zirconia implants reflects a broader shift in dentistry toward more patientfriendly,metal-free solutions that align with both clinical and aesthetic demands.Advancements in materials science, surface modifications, and digital workflows have propelled zirconia from anexperimental material to a clinically viable option in implant dentistry. From its initial use in orthopedic applications to itsadaptation in dental implantology, zirconia has undergone substantial development in terms of manufacturing processes,design refinements, and clinical outcomes.This dissertation explores the history and evolution of zirconia implants, highlighting key milestones in materialinnovation, clinical adoption, and ongoing research. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role ofzirconia in modern prosthodontics, examining how it has transformed the approach to implant-supported restorations byoffering a biocompatible, aesthetic, and functionally durable alternative to metal implants.By investigating the progression of zirconia implants and their relevance in contemporary practice, this work contributesto the growing body of knowledge guiding material selection and treatment planning in advanced prosthodontic care.
