Education plays a crucial role in the social and economic development of the Nation. Equity and inclusiveness in education combats the tendency towards discrimination and prejudices and produces more tolerant balanced and law abiding citizens. The socially and economically oriented inclusive approach would require to ensure the enhancement of both the pace and pattern of growth. So, an inclusive approach would include equity, equal opportunity and many such other important elements. Inclusive development involves the engagement of all the stakeholders of a society including the socially and economically marginalized sections. It is with this version of growth and development that India has been able to experience and accept the involvement of the grass root level of the society in the decision making process. So, a robust inclusive growth and development strategy would enhance both social inclusion (across genders) and economic efficiency. Unfortunately, the Indian development model had yet to fully incorporate the important role played by women for propelling socio-economic growth of the country.
