Muni Kashyap has been accepted by sages since very ancient times as the publisher of human life-useful knowledge. Kashyapkuljat sages have given their presence in many places in the development of crafts along with agriculture, tree and mineralogy. Kashyapa Shilpa is mainly a representative text of many subjects of architecture and craft. Its wording is purely definitional and seems to feed on theory as well as applied practical background. Shankara, the commentator of Tantra Samuchaya, has quoted many of its views. The Kashyapashilpam consists of a total of 8 panels (92 panels in the Tamil text and even up to 96 in other manuscripts) and contains several instructions from astrological considerations to the selection of land and the construction and consecration of a temple on it.
