King of Ayodhya is the final of the six-part series that retells Ramayana in a modern way. The story revolves around Rama, Laxmana, and Sita and their fight and struggle with the demon king Ravana. It highlights Rama’s love for Sita and his unrelenting adherence to Dharma. The story when it retains the names of the characters of the original Ramayana has a different take on the story and is lush with the author’s imagination. While it retains some of the elements of the original Valmiki Ramayana, it has marked differences in the narrations of some of the events from this, like the construction of the bridge to Lanka and the notable difference in Kumbhakarna's character among many such variations. The final battle with Ravana is described with exquisite imagination by the author. Ashok Banker was born on February 7,1964, in Mumbai. Banker is very well known for his retelling of mythological stories of India. He has written several crime thrillers, essays, and fiction.
