This book is the product of the author’s some 20 years service with the Gurkha Rifles, and is arranged like a handbook, with each chapter noticing a separate aspect of the Gurkhas, and of Nepal in general. Among the 22 chapters the reader will find observations on : the lie of the land, the early history of Nepal, rise of the Grukhas, their customs and characteristics, sports and diversions, Kathmandu, temples and shrines, the eastern and western borders, etc; the book ends with 2 chapters on Darjeeling. There are 77 photographs, and 1 map that accompany the narrative. This book is a reprint of the 1937 edition.
