"Linkage Disequilibrium and Association Mapping" discusses the progress that has been made in the gene-mapping process. Chapters 1-2 present an overview and historical basis to the subject and introduce subsequent chapters within the relevant context. Chapters 3-5 review the characterization of the genome-wide linkage disequilibrium structure, an understanding of which underpins successful association mapping. Chapters 6-14 examine all aspects of disease association mapping methodology, from the genetic basis of complex traits, to study design, selection of marker panels, through alternative modeling approaches to statistical issues in the testing of significance. Finally, chapters 15-16 review the early successes for two diseases of great importance, asthma and type 2 diabetes.
