Lives of Girls and Women is a collection of short stories concerning Del Jordan's coming-of-age by Alice Munro. Summary of the Book These stories revolve around a young Del Jordan and showcase how she grew up on the outskirts, and later in the centre, of the small, southern Ontario town of Jubilee. Incorporating feminist ideals, these stories contrast Del's life and characteristics with her mother and how she refuses to see the similarities. Using only few male characters in the backdrop, Alice Munro spins connected tales which mesh to form the story of Del's life. This book is a must have for fans of contemporary fiction and Alice Munro's work. About Alice Munro Alice Munro is a Canadian writer best known for her short stories. Her stories incorporate a consistent shift in timeframes and are considered to subtly contain details left for the readers to uncover as opposed to revealing them outright. Munro won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature, and has thrice won Canada's Governor General's Award for fiction as well as the 2004 Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize and the 1996 Marian Engel Award.
