Maharana Pratap tells the story of Pratap Singh of Mewar. Summary of the Book Synonymous with bravery and chivalry, Maharana Pratap Singh was a Hindu Rajput ruler of Mewar in present day Rajasthan. Born to Maharaja Udai Singh, Pratap was his eldest son and was coronated after his father was killed by the Mughals. Pratap fought the Mughals throughout his life, opposing Akbar's rule continuously even while his own brothers ceded to the Mughal Emperor's reign. He rode his fabled horse Chetak into battle and fought Akbar at Haldighati, near the town of Gogunda in present-day Rajasthan. Remembered for the use of guerilla warfare to conduct small raids and skirmishes against the might of Akbar's superior forces, Pratap built his forces. He fought the Mughals again in the battle of Dewar and he freed much of the lost territories of Mewar and Rajasthan from the Mughals. This book takes readers through the life of the great ruler and showcase him for the great leader that he was. About the Authors Dr. Shiv Gajrani and Dr. S. Ram are eminent Indian historians and writers. They have widely collaborated on works based on several prominent historical figures of India, principal of which are: Dr. B. R.
