Manual of Tropical Housing and Building is a textbook for architectural students and students of environmental design, climate control in tropical countries, and housing. Practitioners will also also find this textbook helpful, while investors and developers can use it as a guide book. This book talks about the theory of climatic designs and also how one can derive practical solutions from theoretical understanding. The analyses are purely based on the effect of climate on the mind and body, and also on living and working patterns. Otto H. Konigsberger was an architect in Germany, who mainly worked in the urban development planning in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. His Manual of Tropical Housing and Building is published in myriad languages and is a standard course textbook in several parts of the world. He was also the head of the Department of Tropical Studies and Development at Architectural Association in London. In 1989, he was amongst the first ones to receive the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour, which is considered the most prestigious award for the excellent work carried out in the human settlements development field. The other co-authors this book are T. G. Ingersoll, Alan Mayhew and S. V. Szokolay.
