Memoirs of a Surgeon Beyond Incisions, Blood, & Sweat is the autobiography of Dr. Shashanka Mohan Bose, Former Senior Professor and HOD of Surgery, PGI, Chandigarh. It reveals the multiple personalities of the recipient of three national awards. Written in lucid language and with anecdotes, the book describes his struggles and triumphs, through reminiscence of a surgeon’s training, complex surgical cases and the constant innovations and convictions required to better his skills. The reflections by his former residents, colleagues and friends substantiate how for a surgeon, the journey is the reward.The book makes for an interesting study of a surgeon’s career and will appeal to the medical fraternity, medical students who are planning to take the plunge into the professional field, and to general readers who will like to discover the man behind the mask. Dr. Bose is not only a skilled sugeon but he has been involved in many extra curricular activities also, to name a few Hockey, football, dramatics, photography, gardening, health education of common people, etc.
