Part-I deals with Fermentation Technology where various industrial fermentations for production of industrial chemicals such as Alcohols, Organic acids, Vitamins, Amino acids, Antibiotics, Polysaccharides & Polyesters, etc. are discussed. Part-II, Enzyme Biotechnology, describes the basic concepts of Enzymology and Primary & Secondary Screening for enzymes, antibiotics, organic acids, vitamins, etc. Production of Industrial Enzymes, Enzyme and Cell immobilization Techniques and applications are also discussed. Part-III deals with Industrial and Environmental Aspects of Biotechnology such as their applications in Paper industry, Biomining, Production of Single cell proteins & Single cell oils, Sewage treatment, Bioremediation & Biotransformations, etc. Part-IV deals with Prokaryotic & Eukaryotic plasmids & their biology, Gene cloning vectors for E. coli, Bacillus, S. cerevisiae, P. pastoris, Filamentous fungi which includes pET, Gateway & CRISPR–Cas9 gene editing vectors. The Unit also discusses various aspects of Recombinant Protein Production strategies in Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic microbial systems.
