A famous reporter, Binay Gautam, of News channel ‘India ahead of times’ dies in a birthday party of Brigadier N C Ukshana; but later in the autopsy report it was found that he was murdered through poisoning. Police starts investigation but could not find how he was poisoned as poison was not found in any of the food or beverage. Afraid and shocked with the murder in his house, brigadier approaches Nayak for this mysterious murder and request him for investigating the case privately since Nayak has solved many such cases earlier while in police service and got recognition for that. Nayak denied the proposal as being jaded with the crime investigation he has taken leave from police services to keep himself aloof from such things but he has to agree after strong persuasion by his friend Dave Mistry who is an avid reader of detective novels and thinks investigation will be fun like the detective stories he has read. Nayak informs him about the risk and problems in bringing out any information from anyone without any legal authority to interrogate but he had to submit against the constant pestering of Dave and Brigadier. Binay Gautam was a courageous reporter who had always spoken against the ruling party government despite getting threats from them. That is why Minister Satish Thakur is first suspect of the murder. Murder of reporter is taken as a step to muzzle independent voice as many other reporters have also been killed in the past and it created widespread protest by the people transforming into sporadic violence at some places. Investigation went through many twist and turns and finally what came out was shocking.
